Featuring remarks from

Sen. Chris Coons

Fmr. Rep. Carlos Curbelo

Rep. Kathleen Rice

Fmr. RNC Chairman Michael Steele

Stand Up Republic Foundation and Freedom House are pleased to co-host the National Summit for Democracy 2019 in Washington, D.C. bringing together the nation’s most innovative civic leaders, experts and philanthropists working to defend and strengthen American democracy.

The distinctly cross-partisan, invite-only summit gives attendees the opportunity to collaborate in the generation of workable solutions to advance American democracy and functional government. The summit is highly participatory and encourages idea generation and planning for tangible efforts that leverage the diverse capacities and experiences of summit attendees for this mission.

American democracy is at risk, but it is not beyond repair. All who are willing to defend it must transcend political partisanship and work together to find real solutions to the challenges facing our institutions and the American people.

We will address the following challenges, among others:

  • Combating disinformation
  • Preserving the integrity of government institutions
  • Strengthening global democracy through American foreign policy
  • Improving immigration policy
  • Governing past polarization
  • Building a multi-ethnic democracy
  • Countering corruption
  • Advancing electoral reforms
  • Mitigating foreign interference
